A package of sentencing reforms initially included in the Governor’s budget has passed the Ohio House and now heads to the Senate. There is bipartisan support on this bill that would make several significant changes that would both increase sentencing effectiveness and potentially save the state millions of dollars. Governor John Kasich announced the creation of a prescription drug task force this week in an effort to bolster the state’s fight against prescription drug abuse. This came as he spoke in Scioto County, an area that’s been particularly troubled with the influx of abuse. [read more...]
