There was a good editorial in the Journal News about the state legislature’s efforts to reform Ohio’s child pornography laws to account for teen “sexting”. Under existing statutes, a teen possessing a sexually explicit photo of his girlfriend sent to his phone or computer could be charges with felony possession of child pornography and convicted as a sex offender. Brimfield Township is the latest Ohio law enforcement agency to deploy high tech license plate scanning devices to identify and flag drivers wanted by the police. These cameras mounted on police cars and connected to computer systems inside the police car alter officers to the nearby presence of cars that are being sought by law enforcement and government agencies.
